SUSTAINABLE GITOPS ARCHITECTURE FOR CARBONCONSCIOUS APPLICATION DEPLOYMENT
Abstract
GitOps has become a widely adopted operational model for managing cloud-native applications through declarative infrastructure, automated deployment, and continuous synchronization. However, conventional GitOps workflows primarily focus on deployment automation, scalability, and operational consistency without explicitly considering energy efficiency and carbon emissions during application deployment. As enterprise cloud infrastructures continue to expand, sustainable GitOps architectures have become essential for reducing environmental impact while maintaining deployment reliability and application performance. This paper proposes a sustainable GitOps architecture for carbon-conscious application deployment by integrating Kubernetes, GitOps automation, machine learning, predictive analytics, cloud-native monitoring, and green computing. The proposed framework continuously evaluates infrastructure utilization, renewable energy availability, regional carbon intensity, workload characteristics, and deployment priorities before initiating application deployment. Experimental analysis demonstrates significant improvements in deployment efficiency, infrastructure utilization, energy savings, carbon emission reduction, and sustainable cloud-native operations compared with conventional GitOps deployment strategies.
